In the year 1965, a small group of 10 to 12 brahmins founded “Bhakta Samaj” in Vasai, a distant suburb of Mumbai.  Bhakta Samaj was formed with the intention of performing the basic rituals in Brahmin community like Ammavasya Tharpanam for departed souls and Avaani Avittam.  Gradually it developed its activities and started conducting Poojas like Sri Dharmasastha Mandala Pooja and Sree Rama Navami etc. once in a year for the welfare of the people of the surrounding areas and the nation.

When the Brahmin community started increasing in Vasai, the founder members felt the necessity of introducing more and more members into Bhakta Samaj fold.   With the increased number of members, the Samaj intensified its activities.  Today, the Samaj has over 200 life members and  it performs most of the religious functions like Ganesh Chaturthi, Astami Rohini, Venkitachalapathy Vilakku, 9 days Navaratri Pooja, Sri Dharmasastha Mandala Pooja & Sastha Preeti,  Rudra Ekadasini  on Mahasivaratri day and, Sri Rama Navami in a befitting manner.  The Samaj gives Annadanam to over 700 people during Sri Dharmasastha Mandala Pooja, Mahasivaratri and Sri Rama Navami

Mission of Bhakta Samaj

Diversifying the activities and introduce more and more religious functions to encourage the younger generation is the mission and motto of Samaj.  Samaj also has plans to introduce various other activities like conducting classes on Veda, Music, Dance, Slokam for ladies etc. awarding scholarships to deserving/meritorious students, sponsoring beds/wards/equipments in a reputed nearby hospital meant for poor and needy.   With this background in mind, we got our Samaj registered with the Charity Commissioner under Religious & Charitable Trust in the year 1984.  We are happy to inform that over a period of time, we felt the presence of more and more people participating in various functions organized by our Samaj in a common hall.  The whole-hearted cooperation of the life members and the participants of various programmes have been overwhelming due to which, the Samaj is in a prominent position.

The Samaj has completed its 25 years of existence in Vasai from the date of registration.
